How does a record-breaking endurance athlete make a positive difference in the world? Katie Spotz‘s way is to complete a 325-mile river swim, a 100-mile nonstop run (in under 20 hours) and row alone across the Atlantic Ocean in a little over 70 days. Her goal is to encourage others to dream big and lift up people in need of clean water.

You will not want to miss my talk with this record-setting athlete.
“You can’t really do much if you don’t try. I’m all about the try. The first mile run I tried gave me the courage to try two, to try three, and it all started from that place.” says Katie, the only American to row solo from Africa to South America.
Katie talks about the difficult rowing experience and how death-defying it was. She says that when she said goodbye to her parents, they looked at each other with tears in their eyes, wondering if that would be the last moment they’d ever see each other.
She’ll also discuss how she became an endurance athlete, what motivated her and some of her toughest challenges.
Plus, Katie will explain why she is such a passionate advocate for clean water and for creating a world where everyone, everywhere, has clean, safe water.
More than 43,000 people have already gained access to clean water
through her challenges and fundraising events.
Her most recent challenge involved an in-line Skate4Water 31 miles a day for a total of 119 miles across the Florida Keys. She’ll talk about the injury she sustained on the third day and why she refused to let it sideline her.
While not everyone can physically perform like Katie, she does share some practical ideas for how we can all push ourselves mentally, through tough or challenging times.
