It’s Bunny Cake Time with Zoey Bakes! You know we love creative cakes here at The Women’s Eye. Whenever we see a particularly fun one, we have to explore who made it and how it’s designed. As Easter is coming and Spring is upon us, we couldn’t resist this Bunny Cake baked by a cakemaker we have featured before.
Remember the fantastic cake Maria Tereso at Zoey Bakes baked for our Valentine’s Day celebration? Here she is with our podcast host Stacey Gualandi just before donating this cake to the Las Vegas nonprofit Unshakeable. Everyone seemed to enjoy our red velvet cake with the yummy raspberry mousse frosting.
We spotted the new Bunny Cake by Maria on Instagram and wondered how she put it together. Could we do it? The answer: yes. Maria assures us that we can make this cake. There are Youtube videos (here’s one by the Icing Artist), she says, but this is basically what it takes without going into detail:
3 layers of cake (this one is funfetti)
2 layers of filling, raspberry is the above filling covered in a smooth fondant
Buttercream frosting
If available, try printing the outlines of bunnies, ears and eyes or make your own
Warning: If it’s a 6 or 8 inch cake, it takes about two days to make! And you have to add in time to wait for the ears to dry. I mentioned to Maria that seems like a big time investment to make a cake. Her response:
You have to have patience when you want the result to be something beautiful! Maria Tereso, Zoey Bakes
Happy Easter or Springtime celebration!
