It’s good for the soul to take notice of fun, delightful summer fashion. Seasons are changing, the hot weather is upon us, so I took a stroll through a mall (remember them?) to get out from under the online buying experience. My goal was to find the latest eye-catching designs in summer shoes & bags. Colorful fabrics, sparkling rhinestones, bright bows and clever creations got my attention like this Betsey Johnson Gimme a Ring Phone Bag Pink above.
Betsey Johnson never lets me down when it comes to whimsy. She continues to surprise with her imaginative handbags.
This one in red was a show-stopper! If you are looking for a non-alcoholic Bloody Mary, this would be a great choice. You could almost take a sip. Love the inclusion of lemon, olives and celery! The perfect party purse!
How about a purse-hat combo? Kurt Geiger London is into crochet with these Kensington designs you can wear with matching hat.
The company says their mission is “to inspire and unite and to look towards a world that celebrates kindness, inclusivity and freedom.” We could use more of that. The rainbow is their signature, London their home.
Another Kurt Geiger London creation enticing my eye is this Ruffle Mini Kensington as they call it.
This crossbody’s base is pink fabric with an orange tulle ruffle around the front flap. Topped with a silver eagle head sitting on a large purple bow, it needs to find the right dress.
Speaking of bows and eagles, here’s another from Kurt entitled Pink Blue Bow.
What a clever use of colorful quilted fabric topped with rhinestone bow to make a summery statement.
On To The Shoe Department
How can you not spot these multi-colored Gianni Bini Jess Southern Carrie Plaid Knotted Bow Platform Sandals? Bows must be in as we saw them everywhere on clothing as well as shoes and bags.
We thought perhaps the higher-than-high platforms had gone out of style, but here is proof they are still with us at a 5.95″ heel height.
Steve Madden’s shoes never disappoint in creative design and whimsy. Rhinestones kept catching my eye especially when they were added to casual shoes.
As further proof that platforms aren’t dead, here are his Rhinestone Embellished High Top Platform Sneakers with a 2″ heel. If the color doesn’t suit you, they come in red and basic rhinestone. If you like a lower, chunkier style, he makes those, too, in hot pink.
Floral patterns with rhinestones are also popular as you can see, in all colors and fabrics. These GB Satin Jacquard Rhinestone Buckle Platform Slide Sandals (only 3.7′ heel) also say party to me. They come in mango and red zinnia, floral and paisley patterns. You’d almost want a dress in the same fabric to complete the look.
Leaving you with another Kurt Geiger London purse, this clutch (remember those?) dueling as a crossbody spoke to me. This Mini Kensington Eye combines a pale blue tweed with silver tinsel detail. Another antiqued eagle head adorned it, this time surrounded by blue crystal beads. It’s almost winking at the world.
Good luck on finding those summer shoes & bags that delight your eye.
Definitely fun stuff for a woman’s eye!
