’Tis the season for cooking, so you won’t want to miss my interview on the next episode of The Women’s Eye Podcast with award-winning food writer Pascale Beale, who shares her newest book “FLAVOUR: Savoring the Seasons – Recipes from the Market Table.”
“[This cookbook] explores the ingredients that are in each season and I felt that FLAVOUR encapsulated everything. It’s really about exploring the taste of each season and there are savory dishes as well as some sweet dishes for each season!”
—Pascale Beale, food writer and cooking instructor
Available also on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube
Beale is practically a member of the The Women’s Eye family. She has been a guest before to share many of her previous cookbooks, so it is a joy to have her back to entice us with almost 150 new mouthwatering recipes in her 11th book FLAVOUR.
Before the release of FLAVOUR, I got an early peek at two of the recipes inside: the Ratatouille Shakshuka, and the Honeydew, Green Tomato and Mint Salad. I recently spent a day in a “Pascale Beale cooking class” where we got to shop for ingredients at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market; prepare them; cook and then eat a fantastic feast! We were literally transported through a seasonal tasting!
“I really encourage people to try and shop at local farmers markets, and to source their food as close to them as possible. The less distance it has to travel and the sooner you get it after it’s been picked, the better it will taste, and the better it will be for you,” says Pascale.
With the holiday season upon us, Beale also offers advice on:
- How to find and learn about your local farmers markets
- What to do if you don’t have a local farmers market
- How to build relationships with the people at your market
- When to delegate some of the cooking
And, of course, BUY THE BOOK!
Come along for a culinary journey on this episode of The Women’s Eye Podcast.
As the award-winning writer says, “Eating is a sense of nourishing yourself as opposed to just fueling yourself.”
