Be sure to tune in to the next episode of The Women’s Eye Podcast with host Stacey Gualandi and filmmaker Rachel Feldman, whose new biopic LILLY is available now on Fandango and AppleTV.
LILLY is based on the remarkable life of Lilly Ledbetter, a trailblazer and activist who fought against gender discrimination and rallied for equal pay for equal work. Her lawsuit against Goodyear Tire went all the way to the Supreme Court, and ultimately led to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act signed by President Barack Obama in 2009.
Available also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube
Feldman believes now is the perfect time for the release of this very special film.
“Fair pay is not a partisan issue and gender equity should not be a partisan issue. This is a movie that engenders hope and inspiration. It talks about how one ordinary person can do an extraordinary thing, and that every single one of us needs to stand up for justice in every part of our life.”
—LILLY Director Rachel Feldman
This interview is a full circle moment. Listen in as I talked to Lilly Ledbetter in 2012 when she appeared on The Women’s Eye Radio Show after she released her memoir Grace and Grit: My Fight for Equal Pay and Fairness at Goodyear and Beyond.

During that interview, Ledbetter said she never would have thought that she’d become a role model for so many, and land herself in the history books. But now, she is subject of a major motion picture.

“First of all, it’s very sad that she’s not here with us now that this movie is opening. Having a movie celebrating her legacy was very important to Lilly. Lilly was a movie lover…she really understood the impact of cinema, and that when you affect people in their heart, you can affect their head.”
When Rachel first reached out to Lilly Ledbetter, she told her that she wasn’t a documentarian….
“I didn’t want to make a movie that was political or about fair pay. I wanted to make a movie about a woman who decided to be the face and the voice of an issue and put a target on her back. What is the personal cost of doing that, you know? That takes an exceptional grit.
We’re so lucky to get Patricia Clarkson to play her. She understood that.”
Join us for an empowering conversation with filmmaker Rachel Feldman, who also wrote the LILLY script and was one of the producers, on this episode of The Women’s Eye podcast.
