What happens when you have two Women’s Eye hosts on the same podcast? A cozy, wonder-ful conversation between two friends about “the wild why.” It may inspire you to find your own wonder.
New York Times (and USA Today and International!) best-selling author Laura Munson shares a special spot in The Women’s Eye family. I first met Laura in 2011 when she spoke about her best-selling book, This is Not the Story You Think It Is. We have celebrated each of her successful book releases ever since.

Now the founder of the acclaimed Haven Writing Retreats in Montana has a new book called The Wild Why: Stories and Teachings to Uncover Your Wonder.
Available also on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube
I caught up with Laura on the first leg of her cross-country book tour. After reading The Wild Why, I truly believe this is the book we need right now. It reminded me of how important it is to be in the moment and focus on the beauty in the little things.
“Look, it’s no small secret that we live in a very worried world right now. We need a relief from this beautiful but heartbreaking world…but I believe that we need to return to our wonder. We also need wonder for our civilization to continue thriving because without wonder we don’t have empathy; without empathy, we don’t have a civilization. People have been taking this message to heart.”

That includes Maria Shriver, who Laura says recently read The Wild Why and chose it as one of her Sunday Paper picks!
Writing this part-memoir, part-self-help book—a first for Laura—took nine years. Now she dedicates The Wild Why to everyone who thinks he or she doesn’t have a voice, thinks is not creative and is stuck.
At the end of each chapter, she inspires readers to discover their own wild why in order to release their “inner critter.”
“We’re feral when we’re children, and I want us to get back to that wilderness. We would have so much fun in the sandbox…when we’re really little, we’re so free in this way. So, I encourage people to find that inner champion by reconnecting with what I call the “free child” that lives in all of us.”
