How many of you are confident with your financial status? Are you like me and always asking yourself how much money is “enough” to feel financially secure?
If you are, this episode of The Women’s Eye Podcast with host Stacey Gualandi and financial planner Catherine Scrivano is speaking to you!
Available also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube
“Defining the word ‘enough’ is really fun because it’s in the eye of the beholder. What’s enough for me may not be enough for you. So, it’s a fun thing to explore. [But] for all of us, it’s a matter of our own individual life and our own individual circumstances.”
— Catherine Scrivano, Financial Planner

Catherine is our financial expert and contributor to The Women’s Eye Podcast for our signature Building Money Power series.
In my recent conversation, she makes it clear that there is a difference between financial security and financial independence. When it comes to having enough money, start by asking yourself if you have enough to cover basic living expenses.
“We always have to acknowledge what I refer to as the ‘boogeyman in the bushes.’ While women, because our life expectancy tends to be longer, are more likely to need long-term care, and some kind of support as we age, that can be incredibly expensive so acknowledging that early means that we can start setting up reserves to help pay for that,” Catherine said.
Catherine outlines a step-by-step plan tailored for women on how to achieve independence.
It includes HOW TO:
- Become a knowledgeable investor
- Advocate for yourself in the workplace
- Protect your assets
- Create an estate plan
Ultimately, Catherine says the goal is CONFIDENCE

“You need to be invested in the whole process and be willing to have conversations about what might go wrong. But also, this is an opportunity to decide what’s important to you, and where your assets and energy and attention need to be focused.
Just commit to that, and have the confidence that you deserve it, that you’re going to be a better member of our community and our society; you’ll be a better parent, grandparent, partner, etc, all as a result of having done this,” Scrivano said.
