Don’t miss a BRAND NEW episode of The Women’s Eye podcast with Catherine Anaya as I talk with Mesha Davis, CEO of the Arizona Foundation for Women, a nonprofit that serves as a key resource with a long history of effectively advocating on behalf of women.

I attended their 2019 Awards Luncheon and was impressed by their inclusion and celebration of men who support and advocate for women.

I talk with Mesha about why she believes men should be part of the solution when it comes to an equitable and just future where women are safe, healthy and economically independent.

Mesha also tells me about her nearly 20 years of nonprofit work with advice for those wanting to get involved or start their own nonprofit.

Don’t miss our BRAND NEW interview on The Women’s Eye! On this episode, we feature a chat with voice actor, entrepreneur and fellow podcast host Melissa Moats!

Check out our video version later on in the post.

Melissa’s optimistic tone and organic happiness helped her battle cancer – twice – and has made for a successful voiceover career, even earning her the self-proclaimed title “Happiest Person on Earth.”

Melissa Moats, voiceover coach/Photo Courtesy Melissa MoatsYou will likely recognize Melissa’s voice from one of the thousands of commercials she has done over the past 18 years, including Best Western, Pandora Radio, and Ashley Furniture, to name but a few.

From bras to cars to furniture, she says, “You name it, I love to sell it.”

She took her love of voiceover and started teaching beginners in her living room, which became so popular she had to move to a bigger house, or open her own business.

So two years ago she launched the Las Vegas-based The Voice Actors Studio, and that is where I first met Melissa.

I have officially embarked on a voice acting “side career,” thanks to my mentor, teacher, and now friend, and I want everyone to hear, not only Melissa’s voice, but also her advice on practicing life every day in a grateful way.

“It’s hard to be in a negative mindset if you are in a grateful mindset,” she says.

And that positive, inspiring attitude toward life is taking Melissa on yet a new adventure. She just launched a video program called “The Womanpreneur Podcast” with her co-host Amanda McCune. Together, they will focus on empowering women in business and living life authentically.

Be sure to tune in to find out Melissa’s method of manifesting, why watching other people thrive is so rewarding, how to find your happy and so much more!

And check out our TWE videocast of this podcast! We want you to be a fly on the wall during our recording session at Adrenaline Studios in Las Vegas.  Enjoy!

Don’t miss a BRAND NEW interview on The Women’s Eye Radio with Stacey Gualandi as I talk with acclaimed restaurateur Elizabeth Blau about the recipes, cooking tips and personal stories found in her new cookbook, Honey Salt Food & Drink – A Culinary Scrapbook.

As a Las Vegas resident who loves to make reservations, I have made Honey Salt a dining destination for me and my family.  So having Blau – fresh from a Canadian cranberry bog – chat with me in studio AND share an (in)famous “brookie” (combo brownie/cookie) for my birthday was a rare treat.

With talent – and good taste buds – Elizabeth Blau is now the queen of cuisine in Las Vegas. Together with her husband and masterful Chef Kim Canteenwalla, the James Beard nominees have made their mark on and off the Strip, and more recently in Vancouver, with several world class restaurants.

But it was the opening of Honey Salt six years ago that sealed their epicurean empire. And now she and her husband are on a (lobster) roll with their first cookbook!

Elizabeth’s warm lobster roll recipe from Honey Salt book

The idea first came out of her zest for cooking, scrapbooking and collecting other cookbooks (she has over a thousand!). It made sense to her, she says, “to lay out our photos, recipes and stories of our journey and the path to the restaurant opening of Honey Salt.”

Elizabeth Blau, discusses her success in the restaurant business and her new Savory Scrapbook, “Honey Salt”

For Blau, it’s about sharing special moments, reminiscing about adventures with friends all over the country, and preserving those for her young son Cole.

Nowadays, there are numerous gifted female chefs and restaurateurs leveling the playing field in these male-dominated professions, but Elizabeth is certainly a standout. And not only has Blau paved her own successful path, but she has also become a role model for up-and-coming women hoping to follow in her foodie footsteps.

It’s Blau’s culinary kingdom, and we’re all just eating in it. You might even want to try making your own savory scrapbook! For more information about Elizabeth, check out:

Don’t miss a BRAND NEW episode of The Women’s Eye Radio with host Stacey Gualandi and my guest, Natalie Allen, the award-winning broadcast journalist for CNN International and host of the 12th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference on August 27th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

For over 25 years, Allen has been living out her dream job, reporting many of the world’s biggest news and environmental stories as an anchor for CNN, MSNBC, and The Weather Channel.

Natalie Allen at Women's Leadership Conference, Las Vegas/Photo Courtesy WLC | The Women's Eye Magazine and Radio ShowWhile she says she never intended to be on television, it was her perseverance and love of storytelling that kept her on the beat. She jokes, “On my deathbed, I’m going to say I just didn’t learn enough.”

As someone who has watched CNN since day one, I have always admired Allen’s career. She admits this is a difficult time to be in the media business with many journalists feeling “beat up,” but she explains how networks are keeping their integrity in check and conveying that through their reporting.

After shooting, writing, and producing a 3-part series of her own on child trafficking in 2011, Allen says what now “feeds her soul” is getting out in the real world with real people and doing stories herself.

What also feeds her soul is the opportunity to inspire other women. This year marks Allen’s fifth time as host for the Women’s Leadership Conference. It’s a chance to address a momentous year for women’s issues like #MeToo, pay equity and how to help women move ahead.

Be sure to tune as Allen gives advice to “Natalie wannabes,” describes overcoming insecurity and emphasizes the importance of a good eyeliner.

Don’t miss a BRAND NEW interview with author Sigrid Olsen on The Women’s Eye Radio with Stacey Gualandi. Olsen talks about her one-time fashion empire, her Inspiration Yoga Retreats and her new memoir “My Life Redesigned: Embracing Change, Aging Gracefully, and Finding Magic in the Simple Things.”

Sigrid Olsen came to our attention thanks to Sue Podbielski, a TWE contributor, who had the opportunity to attend one of Olsen’s Inspiration Retreats recently in Tulum, Mexico. Podbielski says it was so life-changing, she wanted everyone to know about Sigrid!

Sigrid Olsen's book, My Life Redesigned/Photo Courtesy Sigrid OlsenOlsen is the nationally known woman behind the successful fashion design empire SIGRID OLSEN for nearly three decades. But after multiple life upheavals: the demise of her fashion line, a breast cancer diagnosis and the death of her husband, Olsen had to face midlife head-on. She wasn’t “forced into retirement,” says her good friend broadcaster Jane Pauley, but “forced into reinvention.”

Now, through her personal story, Olsen writes about reconnecting with a long dormant yoga practice and how she “lost herself in meditation until the layers of stress peeled away and she could breathe again.” Her book offers an 8-step happiness checklist, and “inspiration for anyone seeking to find … balance and beauty in the world.”
