“Tina Brown’s New Newsweek Unveiled”

UPDATE October 18, 2012: A Turn of the Page for Newsweek

During this week where women are standing on bridges worldwide to celebrate their International Day, one person’s name is in the headlines for the redesign of a well known magazine and her dedication to keeping women’s issues in the daily dialogue. Tina Brown, the new combo editor of The Daily Beast and Newsweek, has just revealed her new Newsweek with an emphasis on women and an exclusive interview by Gayle Tzemach Lemmon on Hillary Clinton.

New Newsweek

In that article, Gayle describes Hillary’s new mission: to put women and girls front and center. Every step taken by the Secretary of State since the uprising in Tunisia, Gayle reports, has been to advance her “categorical imperative: the empowerment of women.”

Hillary tells NEWSWEEK: “I believe that the rights of women and girls is the unfinished business of the 21st century.”

Kathleen Parker’s article on “Born Again Feminism” is food for thought as well in Brown’s new endeavor. Parker gives her observations on women’s struggle for free expression in the Middle East from an inspiring four country tour to launch a partnership to fight breast cancer.

It’s an all women’s week for Tina as she launches her 2nd Annual Women in the World Stories and Solutions Summit beginning March 10. An amazing array of leaders and outspoken dissidents will come together from around the world to speak at this unique conference in New York City.
