As 2023 winds down, don’t miss this new episode of The Women’s Eye podcast with Stacey Gualandi. I talk with Catherine Scrivano, President of CASCO Financial Group in Phoenix, Arizona, about how to make smart New Year’s financial resolutions!
“The best time to have started investing or planning is always yesterday. The second best time is always today, so I think making financial resolutions is a priority even over shopping for the holidays.”

Catherine is also a regular contributor to The Women’s Eye podcast for our Building Money Power segment. She says making money strategies for 2024 doesn’t have to be a “big hard endeavor.”
But if you’re like me and you get overwhelmed trying to get organized financially, Catherine advises to “eat this elephant, one bite at a time.”
The first step is to look at the current year, embrace your successes and then examine what wasn’t successful as opportunities to learn. It’s important to be honest with yourself.
“If you don’t know where you’re going, wherever you end up is just where you end up. However, if you’re proactive and you’ve identified what your goals are, chances of reaching them are much greater.”
We discuss several ways to reduce debt and get back on track including:
- If your employer offers a matching 401K contribution, make it a high priority to maximize this benefit.
- Build up your emergency and opportunity fund.
- Identify your goals and write them down.
- Don’t forget to have a personal document locator.
