Whether you’re just starting your career, or settling into retirement, you’ll want to tune in to this episode of The Women’s Eye podcast as I talk with Catherine Scrivano, President of CASCO Financial Group, about Building Money Power during every life stage in order to secure your financial future.
“If anyone ever asks, ‘What is the best investment I can make?’ My knee jerk response, 100 percent of the time, will be ‘in your health throughout your whole life.’ From the very beginning, making plans to take care of your health will have a huge financial impact.”

Catherine is a regular contributor to The Women’s Eye podcast for our Building Money Power segment. Her Phoenix-based company’s motto is, “You don’t have to be wealthy to be wise.” She says the decisions we make early in our careers will continue to impact us during all life stages.
During my 20s, I was lucky. My husband had a strong financial background, but Catherine hears clients say all the time, “I wish I had this information when I was younger,” or “If only I started earlier.” If there is one thing to take away from this episode, it’s: DON’T WAIT.
“Decisions made when you’re first starting into the workforce set a level of compensation that will follow you throughout your career, so knowing right from the beginning how to negotiate and advocate for yourself and your compensation can make an enormous difference throughout your working life and well into your retirement,” says Scrivano.
We talk about ways to amass financial strength, starting in your 20s; from adulting to the “sandwich years”; and all the way into retirement.
Here are some of Catherine’s tips which she explains on our podcast:
- Establish a credit history.
- Pay yourself first.
- Establish a “sleep at night” fund.
- Five years from retirement, practice living on your retirement budget.
- Seek advice (even Catherine has a financial planner after 30 years in the business!!)
Catherine likes to use this quote to define a successful retirement: “Work is optional, and leisure is affordable.”
