“What I’ve learned about myself is that I’m a champion for second chances!”
On this episode of The Women’s Eye podcast, host Stacey Gualandi chats with Debbie Isaacs, the founder and president (and good friend!) of the Las Vegas, Nevada-based nonprofit UNSHAKEABLE. Its mission is simple: guiding women recovering from trauma to return to the workforce and achieve financial independence. They can then proclaim, “I AM UNSHAKEABLE!”

We first introduced our audience to Isaacs and UNSHAKEABLE a year ago with a special Valentine’s Day cake to highlight her organization. As we learned then, Issac’s motto is, “You don’t give to an organization, you give through it!”
Isaacs is a television producer by trade but was inspired by the stories of women in recovery from domestic and sexual violence, substance use disorder, human trafficking and homelessness. She called it a “purpose driven moment,” but her gut reaction was to ask herself what she could do to help. Isaacs realized there was a gap in what happens to these women after they’re in treatment.
“If we don’t help these women become financially independent; if we’re not helping them to survive without the help of somebody else, then I felt like their path was incomplete,” said Isaacs.
Since forming her nonprofit in 2016, she has helped 140 clients graduate from their Empower to Employ programs, and well over half of their clients are now working and earning a living wage. Isaacs tells them they already possess everything they need.

“In helping the women find their independence, we’ve also changed generationally the outcome for the family,” emphasized Isaacs.
This year, their goal is to serve 275 women!!
“There is not a day that I don’t look forward to,” said Isaacs. “There’s no greater happiness for us to hear, ‘I got the job!’ The emphasis is to really let the women know that they are unshakeable!”
