It’s Cherry Blossom Time in Washington, D.C. but Not Quite…
Each year we try to bring you a gorgeous photo of the cherry blossoms spreading their beauty around the Tidal Basin, but we’re a wee bit early this year. The National Park Service is predicting the peak, which means 70% of blossoms opened, to be sometime between April 8-12.
Photojournalist Greg Guise shot this snowy picture March 25. As you can see,
the long cold winter is delaying early signs of spring. You can find more photos
of these buds as they try to burst through here at WUSA9.
Soon Washington should be ready for the
annual Cherry Blossom Festival Parade and the celebration of this
wonderful gift of nearly 1700 trees from Japan to the United States 102 years ago.
