As we welcome 2022, we look back proudly to celebrate the successful launch of our second book, 20 Women Storytellers earlier this year. But equally as important, we wanted to note the wonderful authors featured on our site during the year. Here are our TWE 2021 Must-Read Books.
These authors are remarkable women who have written about everything from the environment, travel, thriving in our tough circumstances, grit and determination to themes of women’s empowerment. Mindy, a filmmaker, musician, activist and mom explored the atrocities and tragedies happening in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to write her book and shares how that journey changed her life. Isn’t intended to be a story about her but the strong, resilient Congo women.
“Doing it (writing) from my home in California was not the way to do it. If I was going to write a fiction book about people in Congo, I needed to know how they really looked when they were celebrating and mourning…you can write just the facts, but to let your reading breathe you need to have the atmosphere and so I went.” Mindy Uhrlaub
